Four kinds of crisis, one place to start

These problems rarely come alone. Addiction can cost someone their home; abuse can leave someone disabled. So one caseworker looks at the whole picture.

Homelessness

For people sleeping rough, in shrines, bus stands or unsafe places, and families about to lose their home.

Kashmir's winters make sleeping outside dangerous. We get people indoors first, then work on the reasons they ended up outside.

What we provide

  • Emergency shelter beds and winter night patrols
  • Hot meals, warm clothing, blankets and kangris
  • Health checks and help getting ID documents
  • Help finding rented rooms, jobs and government housing schemes
  • Reuniting people with family, where it is safe

To get help: call +91 00000 00000, or tell us where you saw someone sleeping rough and we will send a team.

Addiction recovery

For anyone struggling with drugs or alcohol, and for families who are worried about someone.

Addiction is an illness, not a disgrace. We help people get treated quietly and properly, and we support the family through it too.

What we provide

  • Confidential first conversation with a counsellor
  • Referral to and transport to trusted de-addiction centres
  • Help with treatment costs for families who cannot pay
  • Ongoing counselling and peer support groups after treatment
  • Family sessions and awareness talks in schools and mohallas

To get help: call +91 00000 00000. You can talk to us anonymously first. Parents and friends are welcome to call on someone's behalf.

Disability support

For children and adults with physical, intellectual or sensory disabilities, and the people who care for them.

With the right equipment and support, people with disabilities can study, work and take part in family and community life.

What we provide

  • Wheelchairs, hearing aids, walking aids and other equipment
  • Physiotherapy and speech therapy referrals
  • Help getting disability certificates, UDID cards and pensions
  • School admission support and home tutoring
  • Skills training and help finding work
  • Respite and support for carers

To get help: call +91 00000 00000 or visit our office. Bring any medical papers you have, but you do not need them to start.

Domestic abuse

For women, men, children and elderly people who are being hurt, threatened or controlled at home.

Leaving is hard and often dangerous. We help you plan safely, at your own pace, whether or not you decide to leave.

What we provide

  • Confidential counselling, by phone or in person
  • Safe, temporary accommodation for you and your children
  • Free legal advice and help with police complaints and court
  • Medical care and documentation of injuries
  • Help with income, skills and a place to live afterwards
