Getting help
Is your help really free?
Yes. Everything we offer is free for the people we help. It is paid for by donations.
Who can ask for help?
Anyone in Kashmir facing homelessness, addiction, disability or abuse at home, of any faith, age, gender or background. You can also ask on behalf of someone else.
Why don't you have a phone helpline?
Many of the people we help cannot talk freely at home. An online request can be sent quietly, at any hour, and you choose how we reply. You can also email us or visit our office.
How quickly will you reply?
Within one working day, usually sooner. In winter, requests about someone sleeping outside are treated as urgent.
Do you work outside Srinagar?
Yes. We help people in all ten districts of the Kashmir valley, with home visits where needed.
Is the foundation religious?
We are not a religious organisation. We help everyone equally, and we work closely with mosques, shrines and community leaders.
Privacy
Will anyone find out I asked for help?
Not from us. We do not share anything without your permission, except where a child or someone's life is in immediate danger.
What happens to the information I send?
Only the caseworkers working with you can see it. Read our privacy policy for details.
Giving and volunteering
Do you accept Zakat?
Yes. Zakat is kept in a separate fund and spent only on eligible recipients. Read more.
Can I volunteer if I am a student?
Yes, if you are 18 or over. Many of our volunteers are students, and we provide a certificate of service.
Can I donate used clothes or equipment?
Yes, if they are clean and in good condition. Please contact us before dropping them off.
