From the Streets to a New Beginning: Tariq's Story
Tariq was 34 years old when he found himself sleeping under a bridge in Srinagar during a brutal winter. A decade of conflict had taken everything from him — his home, his family, his hope. He had nowhere to turn.
Then a Kashmir Online volunteer found him, wrapped him in a blanket, and brought him to our emergency shelter. That night changed everything.
Over the next six months, Tariq went through our transitional housing program. He learned carpentry through our vocational training. Today, Tariq runs his own small furniture workshop and employs two other men who were once homeless.
"Kashmir Online didn't just give me a roof," Tariq told us. "They gave me back my dignity."
