Razia Walks Again: The Power of a Wheelchair
At 8 years old, Razia lost the use of her legs in an accident. Her family could not afford a wheelchair, and for three years, she was confined to a single room in their small home in a remote village.
She had stopped going to school. She had stopped playing. She had, in many ways, stopped being a child.
When our disability outreach team visited her village, they found Razia sitting by a window, watching other children play outside. Within two weeks, she had her first wheelchair — fitted and customized for her small frame.
The first thing Razia did was ask her mother to take her to school.
Today she is one of the top students in her class. She dreams of becoming a doctor. We have no doubt she will get there.
